More Valuable Information


Qualified events must be within 10 miles either side of the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail. Any questions about whether or not an event is qualified should be directed to the Program Administrator. The Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail begins in Hartford, IL and ends near the mouth of the Columbia River in Washington and Oregon. 11 states are involved in the program. Only one walk is necessary for each state. Books may be purchased for Seven Dollars from the Program Administator.

A map of the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail can be found in the National Park Service website. The trail is administered by the National Park Service.

With the blessings of Congress and President Jefferson, Captains Lewis and Clark forged a trail to the Pacific Ocean that eventually turned out to be one of the most courageous and worthwhile expeditions ever funded by the U.S. Government. You can follow that trail from beginning to end and enjoy some of the most beautiful scenery in the world along with the learning the great history of the expedition and the land it eventually brought into the United States and made it the country it is today. Take your time and make the most of a great journey.
